Beginners Crochet – Wadebridge

If you would like to learn the basics of Crochet then this is the perfect workshop for you
Saturday 10-4pm 10th October 2026. Full Day Session.

VENUE: The Misses Lobb In Cornwall, Unit 9 Dunveth Business Park, Wadebridge, PL27 7FE.

I will take you through the process step by step in this Beginners class and you will learn the following:
*How to hold the hook and yarn to best suit you.
*Learn the basic stitches to get you started and to be able to make a granny square, but also start to practice the Single, treble and double crochet with samples.
*Introduce stitch symbols for a granny square pattern as well as written instructions.
*The step by step through making the Granny square stitches, corners, changing colour and casting off.
*You will then discuss your first project using the Granny square as a starting point, which could be a lap Blanket (or bigger) which you will then be able to work on at home after the class.

You will need to bring:
*Double Knitting wool in at least 2 colours ( 100g Ball size in each colour) of your choice and complement each other. Or if you are a knitter and have leftovers of this size of yarn then bring that with you and make a multi-coloured project. Style craft is an easy to find brand and inexpensive to learn with or any brand you prefer so long as it is Double Knit. Try to avoid dark colours because the stitches can be hard to see when learning.
*Scissors for cutting your wool.
*Large eyed blunt wool needle if you have one, or I have some that I will bring to use on the day.
*A notebook and pen to make notes.
*Please bring a PACKED LUNCH or you can purchase lunch from a nearby bakery or there is an Aldi or Tesco store nearby too.

You will take Home:
Some worksheets to refer to at home.
A good quality steel crochet hook with easy hold grip handle.
An example of a Granny square made by me.
Samples that you have created in class.
The beginnings of your own lap blanket using the Double-knit wool that you bring to the class.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is held UPSTAIRS in the shop.
There is free parking around the site as well toilets available nearby but not in the shop itself.
Tea, Coffee and biscuits will be available.
